Simple Record Keeping Method
Introduction
Rhino offers three different methods of Record Keeping.
This guide explores how to use the Simple Record Keeping Method which is a great alternative for those that do not need to create Invoices or want the hassle of managing spreadsheets. It provides a very simple interface to record your digital records.

Selecting the Record Keeping Method
Click on the MY BUSINESS Menu and click on the Settings Icon for each Self-Employed Business.
Select the Simple – Recommended Option
Note: You can select a different record keeping method for each Self Employed Business. If you have enabled UK Property or Foreign Property, you can select different methods of record keeping for each type of property type.
To Record Income, this will present a very simple screen where you can just record the:
- Date of the Income Transaction
- The Amount
- You have the option to enter notes.
To Expense, this will present a very simple screen where you can just record the:
- Date of the Expense Transaction
- The Expense Type (if you have selected to categorize your Expenses)
- The Amount
- You have the option to enter notes.
You also have the option to attach an Expense Receipt. The system will prompt you to take a photo of the Expense if you are using the App Version.
We have added a feature that will let you easily customize which Expense Types are visible in your system.
Click on the PERSONALISE button at the bottom of the Expense page to configure the Expenses Types.
The list contains all the permitted Expense Types for a Self-Employment and Property business.
To make the system easy to use, you can simply disable or hide Expenses that are not relevant to your business.
You can also change the terminology to something that is more familiar to what you do.
Click on an Expense Type and edit the Name of the Expense Type to make it easier to understand.
